Sister act....

{images via myfonts newsletter}

I have just been reading about these super talented girls - the Kapitza sisters.  Originally from Germany they have set up shop in London's East End and spend their days (and possibly nights) designing cool stuff - like picture and pattern fonts.  They've recently launched a book called 'Geometric'.  Here's a link to their site in case you want to know more....

Cool Covers.. Pass it On...

{images via google}

Dumbo Feather, Pass It On is pretty cool.  Each issue, five amazingly talented (and often highly creative) people share their stories about their passions, what inspires them and why they do what they do. As Dumbo Feather puts it "these are the people who have found the courage to fly".  It's such a nice idea and is definately inspiring for those of us who haven't yet taken flight. The covers and the layout of the internal pages are second to none. If you get a chance, check it out. Each issue is a little work of art.

Wedding envy

{images by Cig Harvey for NY Magazine}

Makes me want to get married all over again. Oh, and have Cig Harvey take the photo's. Both not going to happen for obvious reasons. But aren't these pictures just beautiful?  Not to mention the dresses.  To die for.

Bigger. Better. Different.

(image by cig harvey. legend.}

Some days I feel like the world has gone mad. Today was one of them. As I sat in a meeting this morning (in my "day job") I heard our client say that next year we needed to deliver something that was "bigger"... "better"... "different".  I've heard it a lot lately. The corporate world is focused on MORE at all times. Well guess what? I'm focused on exactly the opposite. This blog is a little escape. It's about less. The beauty in the simplicity and the love of all the things that make me happy.

An oldie but a goodie

{image woodford & co}

Just flicking through some of my old files and came across this image that i'd labelled "top love". Isn't it the coolest top ever?  I think it was from Woodford & Co's last summer not much chance of getting my hands on one anymore. Major bummer.

Who is Amylee Paris?

Well that's exactly what I had to find out when I came across these works of art. How fabulous are they!  All I have been able to uncover so far is that Amylee is an artist based in Paris.  Her website is all in french so it's difficult to ascertain any more at this stage other than to say she's obviously dripping with talent. And is super cool to boot. Au revoir mon amies!

I believe in Jonathan Adler!

The Jonathan Adler 'Manifesto' (found on the JA website) always makes me smile. Thought I'd share....

We believe that your home should make you happy.

We believe that when it comes to decorating, the wife is always right.
Unless the husband is gay.

We believe in carbohydrates and to hell with the puffy consequences.

We believe minimalism is a bummer.

We believe handcrafted tchotchkes are life-enhancing.

We believe tassels are the earrings of the home.

We believe in our muses: David Hicks, Alexander Girard,
Bonnie Cashin. Hans Coper, Gio Ponti, Andy Warhol, Leroy Neiman,
Yves Saint Laurent, and Madonna.

We believe in the innate chicness of red with brown.

We believe in being underdressed or overdressed always.

We believe in infantile, happy emblems like butterflies and hearts.

We believe celebrities should pay full price.

We believe in rustic modernism: Big Sur, A-Frame beach houses,
raw beams, and geodesic dome homes.

We believe in Palm Beach style:
Louis chairs, chinoiserie, Lilly Pulitzer, The Breakers circa '72.

We believe our designs are award winning even though
they've never actually won any.

We believe in Aid to Artisans.

We believe dogs should be allowed in stores and restaurants.

We believe in mantiques - suits of armour,
worn chesterfield sofas, heraldic tapestries.

We believe you should throw out your Blackberry
and go pick some actual blackberries.

We believe colors can't clash.

We believe in blowing your nest egg on our pots.

We believe our lamps will make you look younger and thinner.

We believe in irreverent luxury.

Did someone say bows?

{images: 1. via pinklemonadedesign blog 2. Viktor and Rolf fashion show 3. Marchesa dress 4.Lady Gaga  5. via 6. Kate Spade 7. Alannah Hill }

I love a good bow as much as the next girl. I'm a bow lover. They are definately in my top 5 in terms of fashion loves (along with stripes and florals). But sometimes even I will admit they are a little OTT. However, herein lies the great thing about bows. They can be as demure or as outlandish as you wish. Long live the b*o*w!

Wardrobe envy

Love these 2 shots of Raquel Zimmerman (shot by Terry Richardson). Love the outfits - have been eyeing off the RL blazer for a long time and I think this shot has just tipped me over the edge. The top picture with the Paris backdrop, the striped top (my fave) and those perfect jeans. What's not to love!!

Take a Chance...

{images via kate spade}

Sometimes a little bit of inspiration is all we need to push ourselves to live the life we have dreamed. I'm intending to take a chance in the coming weeks and months and have all fingers and toe's crossed that it will work out for the best. Can't share exactly at the moment but watch this space and all will be revealed. Happy Monday to all xx

Obsession... Wallpaper

{images via   1. pippa holt's london apartment,   2. 3. absolutelybeautifulthings blog 4. turquoisetulipsandbliss blog  5.charlotte street hotel - london}

I've loved wallpaper for as long as I can remember and although I've never actually done any wallpapering it's definately on my list of things for "my dream house".  I particularly love the idea of it in a small space, like a toilet.... or a bathroom.... or a bedroom..... Here's a few of my favourites.

Cool Art

{don't hold me to it but I think all images are via lonny}

I'm on the look out for some art at the moment so have been gathering some inspiration. I'm terrible at actually making a decision and given that it's quite a costly exercise I want to make sure that I absolutely love it before I jump in boots and all. Ahhhhh, the dilemma!

Wednesday, September 8

I couldn't have said it better myself.  Love, love, love everything about it.  The words, the tulle, the colour.  In my eyes it is absolute perfection.

Monday Inspiration

I'm not sure if these pictures can be classified as "inspiration" because there's a part of me that sinks into a deep depression when I look at them - realising that my house in the Hamptons may only ever be a dream. This house is on the market for upwards of $30 million putting it firmly in the "dream" category.  Oh well, it doesn't hurt to look.....

Happy Fathers Day Dad

I've had a really nice weekend relaxing at my Mum & Dad's house - being totally spoilt as usual.  But today really is Dad's day so this post is dedicated to my very special Father who I totally love and adore.  Happy Father's Day Dad xoxo
